MEET THE OWNER

Krista Hoffpauir Garrett
Born in Louisiana and raised across the U.S. in an Air Force family, Krista eventually found her home in Maryland—and found her calling at the intersection of music, psychology, and healing.
Krista’s background is a unique blend of high-level academia and deep community heart. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, balancing a role as a D.C. firm's VP of Finance while completing her M.S. in Developmental Psychology at Johns Hopkins University. Her expertise in brain health led her to serve as the principal technician and therapist in Neurofeedback and EEG studies for Chesapeake Neurology, alongside teaching roles at Montgomery College and the College of Southern Maryland. Since 2020, she has shared her passion as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University and an adjunct faculty member at Coastal Carolina University.
But beyond the degrees and titles, Krista is an accomplished musician and educator specializing in early childhood music and programs for developmental and cognitive disabilities. She is the creator of the "Find Your Voice" mental health music initiative and the creative force behind the "Flawsome" brand.
"I merged my passion for cognitive development, mental health, and music into the Garrett Music Academy. My experience in psychology has allowed me to see firsthand the incredible impact music has on the brain—from repairing damage caused by stroke and dementia to soothing depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Regardless of age, ability, or goal, music serves the soul."
